Crafting History Resources

History of Place

The History of Place resourcesproject is adaptable to any place (village, town, city, county, region) in England to learn about the local history of that place.

The History of Place project is inspired by First Nations of Canada's understanding of place and how this is connected to the past. It also engages with two specific historical thinking concepts: chronological understanding and historical significance.

The History of Place resources can be used to teach a stand-alone workshop or a series of lessons. Most suited to children aged approx 7-13 but can be adapted for older or younger students, including adult students

Suitable for classroom-based learning and other settings.

Are we alone?

This project explores the story of the alleged UFO sighting in Rendlesham Forest in 1980 by US Army personnel.

A combination of painting and collage, students’ images will reflect what they think was in the woods that night back in 1980.

Focusing on an unsolved mystery in from the past, this session explores how and why narratives form beyond ‘hard facts’.
